Template Monster launches Dynamic Flash Photo Galleries!

April 24th, 2007 in Dynamic Flash Photo Galleries, News, Templates

Our Dynamic Flash Gallery is essentially a Flash-based site with a CMS (Content Management System) image gallery already integrated into the website. This means that it is very convenient to update or change pictures and texts without the need for HTML code or a webmaster – so an amateur can update the site him/her self.

Dynamic Flash Gallery has the Gallery section integrated into each of its subpages. The Gallery can be modified by an amateur with his/her own PIN by way of an admin panel. These pages are compiled into an ordinary SWF file (again edited through the admin panel). This means you must use a hosting provider supports PHP, allowing the site owner amateur to update all the content pictures and texts. All the texts of the website are edited from a .TXT file just like texts in any other Flash site.

Another great feature about the Dynamic Flash Gallery is that the owner may choose the layout of his/her gallery from four beautiful variations design varieties. Settings are also available for setting the sizes of the small and large views of each image as well as the accompanying texts and title for each image, and more.

See it work at Dynamic Flash Photo Gallery Presentation.

  1. Congrats on the launch of the new product! Overall, I think that you do have a very good product but could you please consider lowering the prices. ($235 to $270) If you make them more affordable you will be able to sell more. I’m looking forward to seeing lower prices in the future ($80 to $120). Keep up the good work!

  2. Our Dynamic Flash Photo Galleries are designed with very special knowledge and added features, bargain priced considering the technology involved. The Dynamic Flash Photo Galleries have a very good admin panel that is very easy to use. Our admin panel allows customizing almost any part of your website.

  3. Hi,

    Can you please design some Dynamic Flash Galleies with a “White” background that is clean & fresh. We realy love the style of your designer Quill. We think that if you have him design one of these that it will turnout fantastic! We love the style that he used on template numbers: 10675, 10972, 11856, 11866 and 10888. We are looking forward to seeing his great style!

    Keep up the good work! :)

  4. Dynamic Flash Photo Galleries!

    The latest product from TemplateMonster is some new CMS with a stylish flash powered photo gallery front end. While the product is developed for the “not so professional” webmaster are the CMS features really advanced. The gallery script l…

  5. How do I get the admin page working? I”m getting Error [object Object] when it loads up. Have I tried to install a demo/cripple version? Do I need to buy the product? Not much info at the above links, grr.

  6. hi I’m try to get the upload picture run, but i can’t get, I’m use the chat live support, but they don’t know nothing about it, i tested in two deferents directories one html and other xxxxgallery.php but nothing happens, when you try to upload pictures,, (i downloaded the template version that show on the clip), somebody can help with this

  7. It does not work, in place it loads but in the server it gives a mistake.

  8. John Richard Says:

    The free template you can download from the instructional video page is BROKE. Maybe if you fixed it you might sell more if people believe they actually work. It has been like this for weeks and the archive is still not fixed.

  9. have the same problem- why is the live chat not telling- that there is something wrong? i didn´t get any answers on my tickets ? or is it that i uploaded something wrong ?

  10. Is it worth even trying to download the free sample?
    Does anyone know if the error is specific to the free sample or if I’ll have the same probelems with one that I buy?

  11. Hello,
    We are sorry for troubles with our new product Dynamic Flash Photo Galleries. We have fixed the bug. Feel free to contact our support team. They will solve all the problems with your templates.

  12. I try again: Results, : the same problem they don’t nothing, and i try to get support on the chat support, but “Norman”, let me over 20 minutes with on hold and never come back, then i contact again and Rep “Robin” tell me the same history about submit a ticket, and the last one Rep. “Maque” this don’t know where he/she are stand up. IRENE, I don’t see any changes jut the layout color

  13. still the same ! doesn´t work ! good luck !

  14. I’m happy to inform you that we have solved all the problems with the Dynamic Flash Galleries as well as with the free samples. You can read the file galleryTest.php which is found in the folder site_flash. This file contains all the necessary information about the possible bug in your template’s functions. Also read the detailed instructions about using our new product on template-help.com http://info.template-help.com/pre-sale_questions/about_web_design_templates/article30.html .
    Also, as I have already mentioned if you have problems with our templates you can contact our support department and replace your current template with a new updated version of it.

  15. John Richard Says:

    I give up. I downloaded the sample, this time from the samples page, and there is no ‘galleryTest.php’ anywhere inside the archive. Plus, they made the gallery links to photos case sensitive (which I had to fix), and the admin area won’t let you upload any photos or create new categories. Keep getting error Object. This is truly frightening that they release such a shoddy and expensive product, and the online template-help section is even more useless. When you get it working and include actual instructions (like setting permissions, etc…), let us know. Otherwise, you should pull this product line until it’s ready.

  16. I have the same problem with this Dynamic Flash Gallery, I have and open ticket since May 14, they have replied multiple times telling what to do, but nothing has solved the problem. The last response they sent me, they did fix the main page to load up correctly, but the admin control panel still displays the [object object] error. Still waiting for a solution to this.

  17. I’m gutted! This is really what I have been trying to build myself, but the demo is sooo buggy.

    I have followed what little support there is for the demo and uploaded all files in correct structure, but the gallerytest.php reports that it can’t chgmod folders and can’t create folders that are already there! The demo gallery shows up fine, but when I try to change the name or order of a gallery…I get the ‘Object, Object’ error. When I try to upload an image, ‘Add New Image’ button doesn’t do anything!…and when I change the look of the gallery. Thumbs on left etc…it says that it has saved the preferences, but doesn’t show on the site… (yes, I have cleared temp internet files).

    I understand that there could be a certain amount of user error involved, but come on TemplateMonster…if you a promoting such a great product…where is the support?

    A few links to a generic template reseller’s FAQ isn’t good enough!

    If you want people to pay there hard earned money for your product, test it, test it and then test it..then add some support for the demo rather than just say ‘chgmod the files’…What files do I need to chgmod???

    Where’s the demo user forum where we can iron out these flaws? Waiting for a ticket for three days and then find it’s closed without an answer is, in my opinion, bad customer service!

    I want to buy your product…many times over, and if it works and I have the support, I would buy many units…but you have some way to go to convince my.

  18. We strongly apologize for the troubles you’ve had with our Dynamic Flash Gallery Sample. Today I’m happy to let you know that our developers have finally settled both issues related to main page and admin control panel. You may re-download the revised version at http://images.template-help.com/sample/dynamic_flash_gallery_sample.zip
    The technical file ‘galleryTest.php’ with the instructions has also been added to the sample package.
    Again we are sorry for any inconveniences caused you and we hope that you’ll be fully pleased with an updated version of our Dynamic Flash Gallery Sample template. If you have some more questions or concerns regarding this product, please contact our technicians at http://template-help.com/tickets
    Thank you!

  19. I have re-downloaded again the dynamic flash gallery sample.zip and still have the same problems. I compared the file with the other one I had and they are exactly the same, if they included some instructions or changed files, then the file size of the zip file would be different, but both files are identically same 73.2 MB (76,790,257 bytes).

    Joe Navarro from Tech Support managed to make work the template on my site http://www.deaqui.com/creacionesenazucar, it now loads up fine, but on the admin panel, I can create galleries, delete them, but still cannot upload any images.

  20. Same problems as Javi3r. Ran the galleryTest.php, which gives you no information as to what the permission problems are, so I opened up the file and tracked down what it was trying to do, which is changing the permissions to 777 on the gallery folders and subfolders. That, by the way, is a huge no-no with servers. Anyways, after doing that, I deleted a gallery from the admin panel but got the [object object] Error, but it did delete all the photos in the gallery, but not the gallery itself. Still can’t do anything else. All in all, this has been an exercise in futility. After downloading this 3 times based on them saying it’s been fixed, I’ve reached the end of my rope. Ironically, I know enough about PHP and function calls to know that it’s the software and not the server. But trying to track down all the problems is just too time-consuming and quite frankly, even opensource freeware solutions are this bad. The galleryTest.php should tell you what to fix, where to fix it, and have you run it again. At over $200 clams, I expect better than this garbage they keep saying is ‘fixed.’ Sad day for templatemonster and customer relations.

  21. After spending over an hour with one to one support (that I paid for!), my host can confirm that it is a bad product. All I get from my new ticket ticket that I have logged is generic standard responses. First, I was told that PHP SAFE MODE was ON, to which I advised it was OFF, then I was advised that they have changed my CHG MOD permissions to all files to 777….to which I replied that they were already…then I was told that they had renamed the default galery catetgories from lower case to upper case…erm, they were already from the default upload.

    When I run the phpinfo.php from my site, it confirms that SAFE MODE is set to OFF, but I still get the ‘object, object’ error, which I was advised can only be that SAFE MODE is ON. My patient, an expensive support analyst has personally confirmed this.

    I must admit, this looks like it’s the perfect product for a client that wants an easy to update Flash gallery, but I will be advising him to look elsewhere for a gallery.

    This whole product so far is poop. They seem to have got the demo gallery running ok, but the admin panel just doesn’t work.

    I would be interested to here on this blog from anyone who has got there demo or full product gallery working fine with the admin panel working as it is advertised.

    If it had been a lesser known site offering this, I would think it was a con…but Template Monster has previous good products…WHAT HAS HAPPENED WITH THIS ONE??!!

  22. There is one tiny bug in the gallery test file (galleryTest.php):

    // Get _gallery.php (html) file contents
    if ($handle = opendir(’.')) {
    while (false !== ($file = readdir($handle))) {
    $test[] = basename($file);
    if ($file != “.” && $file != “..”) {
    if(is_dir($file)) {
    $dirs[] = basename($file);
    $dirsLower[] = strtolower(basename($file));
    } else {
    if(preg_match(”/\b((\S{5})(_gallery.)(html|php))\b/”, $file)) {
    echo ‘- Gallery data file found - ‘.$file.”;
    $galleryDataFile = $file;
    //break;
    }
    }
    }
    }
    closedir($handle);
    }

    The “break” command stops the llop and all folders are not added to the array.
    The example works fine, just like described in the readme file. I think the problems are mostly related to the web server configuration. Cheap hostings (Dreamhost etc.) can provide some trouble…

  23. site is working now- but admin panel not! gallery test file ???

  24. Tested by using the free version, but hang the system with the popup massage after uploaded the images via Admin tool page:

    “A script in this movie is causing Acrobe Flash Player 9 to run slowly. If continues to run, your computer may beccome unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?
    Yes No ”

    it does not work if you click either yes or no. Any idea ?

  25. Finally, it work ! - I had to delete all the images in the category via FTP server first then upload the image again by using GD admin tool.

  26. I spent $200+ on this thing and can’t get it to work. The customer support is a joke! Has anyboday had any success? I looked at the site by Javi3r and that one seems to work? You said that they helped you make it work. Any idea what they changed? I’m still getting the Error [Object object] message.

  27. Hi James

    I find out the [Object object] error showed from GD admin tool after you uploaded the images (I believe)-> means you have a duplicate images name from your FTP server and Gallery admin. To solve the problem you have to delete the image that you tried to upload via Gallery admin tool from FTP server.

    you may see the path from FTP server:

    ex: /public_html/Flower/big/yourimage.jpg

    delete yourimage.jpg and do the same with folder named /_/_/small/

    After that; upload the image again ex:yourimage.jpg by using Gallery Admin tool - good luck

  28. Thanks, but unfortunately, that’s not the problem. I can’t even get into the admin page in the first place before I get the error [Object object]. I went ahead and deleteded all of the image files off of the server, but I’m still getting the same error. Any other ideas?

    The site is at http://www.hawkenfootball.com/tempsite/admin

  29. This template is waste of time and energy.
    It was easy to make it work but it just doesnt uploads!!!
    What am i supposed to do to get it work.
    The support team has no idea. The open tickets get answered by a template answer talking about the permissions.
    Very disappointed. I want my money back

  30. Hi James

    What about galleryTest.php?- did you test it? - the problem you said look like your hosting server not the template, please check see your server meet the template requirement. My hosting is ok and the test template is ok too; only one thing I wish monstertemplate may design the image preview flash template to suit with vertical(portrait photo)

  31. IS ANYBODY AT TEMPLATEMONSTER FIXING THIS? Or reading all these complaints? I have about a thousand clients who could benefit from this (well, maybe not a thousand, but enough), and the downloadable demos are still broke in the admin area, and the support on this blog and elsewhere is a tribute to this new product’s poor management.

    How can they charge this much money for something that doesn’t work correctly? The admin error still gives the object Object error, you can’t delete images from the admin nor add any images, change or modify albums, and the list goes on. I use a very expensive, dedicated hosting service which exceeds the requirements for this, and have NEVER had a problem with any type of gallery solution until now.

    What’s worse is that customers are using this blog to find answers because support for this is awful. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT until they fix it and you read about it here. You won’t get your money back without a battle with your credit card company. JUST say no until they fix it and maybe the lack of cash flow will get them working on the problems. Jeez.

  32. Andy,

    When I run the galleryTest.php, it gives me the following info:

    PHP is installed

    - Current PHP version: 4.3.11

    - GD library is installed.

    - Safe mode is OFF.

    Checking gallery folders and files…

    - Gallery data file not found. Gallery will not work.

    I check the spelling and the case of my gallery folders on both the server and in the xxxxx_Gallery.php file to make sure they match and they do. Still no luck.

  33. Hi james

    I see your xxxxx_Gallery.php have capital G not g and your version 4.3 not 4.4 -> it may be the problem.

    below is my gallerytest.php test
    ————-

    PHP is installed

    - Current PHP version: 4.4.2

    - GD library is installed.

    - Safe mode is OFF.

    Checking gallery folders and files…

    - Gallery data file found - xxxxx_gallery.php

    Category found - PHOTORAPHY.
    Try to set permissions…
    OK. Permissions set.
    OK. Permissions set.
    OK. Permissions set.
    Gallery category folder not found on the server - FINE ART.
    Try to create…

  34. Nope, I mispoke when I said it was xxxxx_Gallery.php, it’s actually xxxxx_gallery.php. For whatever reason, it’s not being found, though. Thanks for your help, though. The tickets I’ve submitted have resulted in zero progress.

  35. That is funny, your tickets are still on summer vacation ?! just wait - let your hosting know that you want to upgrade php 4.4 - may be it works!

  36. its getting better!admin panel is working very slow- still can´t find all the options…support is slow too, good luck martin

  37. For better admin panel run fast, you guy may be chage another browser; sometime IE 7.0 is suck; better is Firefox - goodluck guy

  38. Hi i saw the link of James and it’s working, please James post your code or the whole zip, or some body can tell if this people on templatemonster fix the bug?

  39. Has anyone gotten these Dynamic galleries to work using the Admin panel? I have a paid template and cannot load the pics ia the admin panel. It does as a user above mentioned. You check ADD pics and it does absolutely nothing. I too have had multiple tickets in and gotten no real answers. WOW, such frustration!!!

    I have loaded the pics in by hand and they work that way; seems nuts when they say how easy and great this product should work. I feel like their help has basically blown me off and not given me any real answers. C’mon Template Monster we are REAL customers here and feeling lost in linmbo land with no product support.

    Anyone else had troubles with #14308 loading the Menu, Menu, Menu, Menu before it actually loads your info? It loads the generic info that you see in the FLA file and then quickly loads your info after. Looks cheesy and unprofessional.
    If anyone has gotten the ADMIN panel to work adding pics could you please contact me!

    Thanks,
    Diane

  40. Hi,

    Seems to me just that the hosts all have safe mode on, wise and safe, but most hosts have it on these days particularly on shared IP hosts.

    Wonder if someone can code a patch?

    It all works if you edit text the files.

    Jaybee

  41. To disable PHP Safe Mode for a specific directory, create an .htaccess file in that dir with the content being:
    php_value safe_mode “1″

    This will turn safe mode for that directory to off. Hope that helps. Run galleryTest.php to make sure it’s working.

  42. Hey Derek,

    are you sure you bought the product from TM? as I know it’s not possible to pay via paypal.

    And don’t forget that this blog is not a support forum, (they using a support systems which works really good).

    Anyway, I posted the only bug several comments before, removing this bug everything is fine on a mature web server (for 5 bucks a month…)

  43. 2 Derek I’m James Berg from Template Monster marketing dept.

  44. I too have been fighting with the admin panel.

    I’ve seem to have everything working but the upload.

    I submitted a ticket and the response said:
    “Please, make sure that all the image folders and all the files and folders of the admin panel folder (including the ‘\admin’ folder itself) have the permissions set to 777. You may contact the hosting provider if unsure.”

    The issue I see with this, is that my server is using the PHPSUEXEC setting. With this setting, 777 is not needed and in fact will cause an internal server error if premissions are set to 777.

    Now if we can get someone to comment on this and verify wehter or not this is causing any issues.

  45. Hi this is really annoying me now, i had an email from your support, i wrote back and i hear nothing.

    I have resolved the safemode issue by moving hosts. I am having major inconsistancies when editing the content, i want to change the content, i am editing the xxxx_mail.html upon upload it no change but all the content is gone.

  46. Dear Bob and Jaybee, I have forwarded your requests to our support department. You will be helped as soon as possible.

    Thank you for your comments.
    Feel free to contact me directly if you would have such problems with our support team.
    My e-mail marketing@templatemonster.com

  47. We seem to have stirred the proverbial pot a bit. I have been getting responses from my tickets in less than 24 hours and I have also received an email from marketing asking for updates on how support is handling this.

    Hopefully we can get this issue resolved or atleas to the point of having a comprehensive install FAQ built.

    Bob

  48. With PHPSUEXEC set on, everything seems to work but the upload new image.

    From the research I have done, PHPSUEXEC makes it hard (if not impossible) to do an upload script.

    Some of the info on the website mentions manually uploading the images. Ok, I tried that and nothing happens. The images just sit happily in their little folder. I can go through the xxxxx_gallery.html and modify it for the new images and manually generate the thumbnails and upload them and make it work. That is a lot of effort though.

    Since it looks like a lot of the issues people are having are due to PHPSUEXEC, maybe you could write a script that puts a button in the category view for manual upload. When clicked, this button will search the corresponding folder and generate the thumbnails and info for the gallery. Basically just bypassing the upload function.

    PS On the admin page, after clicking ‘add new image’, in the test regarding thumbnails, thumbnail is misspelled.

  49. Solutions now or retire the product or recommend a server in which it runs ok.

  50. 2 Months the produc has been released and still no fix? OMG!

  51. Hi everyone.

    I was thinking in achieving a Dynamic Flash Gallery but I was reading some of your posted topices and I noticed that you have the same problem than me: adding a category and a new image.

    For those ones that already bought any of those Dynamic templates do they really work? Are the problems that I just mentioned due the fact that I’m using a trial version?

    Thanks four your help.

  52. I uploaded the dynamic_flash_gallery_sample promoted on the home page of Template Monster.
    But I am unable to make a single text change without the whole thing turning into Japanese characters when viewed in the browser. Is it me!!!

    I have the correct kit eg Studio 8 including Dreamwaeaver 8 and Flash 8.
    I have a host.
    I have had assistance form their live support who are very nice.

    They directed me to read the Flash help section , which I did.
    However this does not seem to address my difficulty.
    I can not get it to work.
    I am lost now.

    Once I pass this test I may want to purchase templates…can anyone HELP ME PLEASE?
    Sara

  53. I was contacted by Nicole in the marketing dept, she has been keeping tabs on my ticket and trying as best she can to work this out. One of the things I stressed, was that the tech need to communicate. The only response I would get is ‘it works now’. No info on what they did or even which files were edited, so I never knew which files to back up on my computer. They are getting better though at communicating though. They now have everything working on my site except the image upload.

    The big issue that most people are having is image upload isn’t working. If that is the case for you, check with your hosting company and see if they are using PHPSUEXEC . If they are, you will not be able to get the upload to work, until (and if) they find a work around. It is part of the security of PHPSUEXEC that is blocking the uploading and not really a problem with the website program.

    My suggestion was to give the Admin Panel a ‘manual upload script. This would allow you to ftp the images to the folder, then click on manual upload and the scripting would do all the necessary stuff for the gallery. I honestly think this would be nice middle ground.

    Another issue I have is that they list software required: Macromedia Flash 8. You don’t need Macromedia flash 8 (an $800 program) unless you want to make changes to the flash template.

    You do how ever need to have the Flash Plugin installed (free) to view the website

    Bob.

  54. Category found - FLOWERS.
    Try to set permissions…
    ERROR. Couldn’t set permissions on the category folder. Gallery may not work.
    can i know how i m going to set the chmod for every folder to 777

  55. Reply to Alexandra:

    I had the sample version working fine, the purchased version i have had nothing but problems with, the tech support uploaded a new version to my server, they said there was a problem and that it worked. Thats great, it does work, but the difference between the versions is now giving me major headaches, i have spend hours editing the old flash verison and linked files all which have a xxxxx_ prefix, the new “working” version calls for _prefix. Sure it works by renaming files, but my old flash that is based in the old prefix is basically wasted 20+hours plus because it all looks fine but the gallery doesnt work, i think you guys really need to take a look at your products you are putting out, and also put some effort into the documentation you put out with the templates.

    I am about to go postal!

  56. I just received an update and everything is working now.

    Even the image upload is working with PHPSUEXEC!

    Good job!!
    Bob
