I was a victim of Template Monster and Getty Images. It started in January 2007 when I received a demand letter from Getty for the use of an image included with a TM template. I contacted TM right away and removed the image. The only advice I received from TM was to ask for proof of ownership - a delay tactic - and to otherwise ignore the letters. Meanwhile 9 months of hell later, Getty turned me over to collection for their settlement demand fees. Fortunately, the timing was just right because TM and Getty created a settlement agreement and I received a refund on the demand fees I did pay. It is poor business practice on TM's part to sell templates with images they had no right to include from freelance designers. TM can blame freelance designers all they want, but in the end it was the consumers who got the raw end of the deal. TM and Getty Images lost a potential customer as I will never be able to trust them or their products again. Now, I take all of my own pictures.

alex,

we spoke to you and your attorney months ago and got no help from you. We had to pay masterfile 900 to settle their lawsuit when we used one of your templates. I'll send you an email with the details and wait for your reimbursement.

AMR, have you had a resolution to the demands for payment from Getty Images? Who would be resposible in your case; the website owner or the developer/Supplier? Surely they can't demand payment if you didn't know?
