Patriotically Political Websites - 4th of July Collection
July 1st, 2009 in ReviewsIndependence Day is coming and we can’t miss such a great opportunity to share with you our vision of best designs for political websites. We have found many noble and original designs that present different parties and politicians in a very vivid and elegant way. Besides, you know how much we love these latest design trends. So today please welcome our Political Websites Showcase.

Famous website of President Barack Obama is performed according to latest web design trends. Patriotic deep blue color scheme - which is basically classics for political designs - prove how professional the performance of this site is.

The official website of White House is made in classical blue style (mentined above) with soft white background and original patterns. By the way, you may remember the old story of public discussion of how this website should be redesigned. The first part of the redesign process was initiated and discussed at Andy Rutledge website and after that the White House website actually did become better. But with the coming of Barack Obama the website finally become really awesome (you may also find the comparison of versions at SmashingMagazine)

The Orange County Democrats have a pretty good website with the great photo of the Barack Obama in the header that can be easily called the best symbol of today’s democracy.

Personal page of John Cornyn - the senator from California - is really one of the best examples of what a political website must look like. Probably the best political website we’ve seen. Remember these awesome 2009 design trends review we’ve published on our blog earlier? Well, this website alone has at least two of the trends involved into its design - the tranperancy and big icons (the full list of 2009 design trends is available at Smashing Magazine - part 1 and part 2).

A senator Mary Landrieu from Louisiana has light blue website with striking yellow elements and remarkable header.
* * *
Good old Illinois… Senator Cronin’s (who appears to be located just in Illinois) website is presented with original image of an eagle in the header and nice small slideshow. Exactly the website we want to see before the Independence Day.

Senator Kirk Watson (Lone Star State) has an interesting website with a very cute blurred image of Texas and nice photo slideshow in the header.

As we all know everything brilliant is simple and we know Wisconsin is all about simplicity and brilliance. So the website of Russ Feingold is another example of this old rule.

Ok, now that’s what we call the fanciest politician URL, probably even the fanciest one we’ve faced under this showcase, that’s almost a complete sentence. Congressman’s Buchanan website itself is also pretty much fancy - a pure perfection because it reflects best symbols of democracy (red, blue and white colors, national flag in the header and patriotic image). Plus the US national Debt counter really involves the visitor into the general message of the website (not to mention the call to action it creates).

The website of Virginia governor Bob McDonnell has a remarkable header with nice video intro (another intro, are they kidding us?) and very patriotic photos.

Actually this site is not very relevant because the event that it was meant for is a pretty much far history by now (moreover, you all know the website didn’t help the republicans at the Presidential elections). The design itself is also quite simple. However the functionality solution (the Flash strip navigation) is really worth being seen anyways.

Guys from Iowa prove that democrats are keens in nice design because this is a fourth site of democrats with wonderful, clean style and amazing details.

The last website has a really brilliant style and you just can’t take your eyes off the vivid and captivating image in the header. It really seems to enliven the whole big picture for a few seconds.

That is it for now but we hope that our small Political Websites Showcase will inspire you to do whatever you think is patriotic. So, our fellow patriots, be sure to celebrate the Independence Day in a very best way and we are glad to share our vision of nice web design examples with you. God Bless America!

Yeah, Chris, it does look pretty good. However it’s the 4th of July collection and the website you’ve suggested is not qutie in the style of the Independance Day.
We do appreciate your effort though, nothing can be better than the audience’s active participation. It means much to us, thanks.

The red, white and blue!
My knowledge of US politics is pretty thin, being from the UK, but they do seem to do put together good websites. BarackObama.com and JohnCornyn.com are particularly good, very modern looking. Political UK sites tend to be very dull and lifeless, not very inspiring at all.
