Keeping the flow of great customization examples within our monthly customizations contest, we’ll currently feature the works of the three lucky winners of February race.
We thank all the other participants for their attention towards the contest, but as they say it – there can only be one winner (and two more for the discounts). Plus, it is another great chance for us to reveal the results of our diligent work in creating the best templates on the net – and your design and customizing efforts. Now it’s high time to present you our winners!

Comments from the author:
Again I had to change the 3D transition and as you don’t provide the source of your 3D animations I made an animation over it, using blending modes to change the eye colors to a CMYK pattern.
On this project I managed to keep the pixel fonts, I like them, my clients are the ones that complain they are too small.

We’re very excited to announce that the new design and functionality of TemplateMonster shopping cart have been launched today. Some of you may have noticed that by now, some not. To those users who haven’t seen it yet – go to your shopping cart and press the “Switch back to the new design of shopping cart” button at the top of the page to see the new fucntionality. Plus you will also be able to switch to the other variant (the one that basically has the old functionality) by pressing the “Switch back to the old design of shopping cart” button. Here’s what the button looks like:

In a couple of words the new features of the shopping cart include a more comfortable way of displaying special offers that you may purchase along with the template you initially picked – that’s one version of shopping cart.
The second variant is basically the updated design of the old shopping cart. But one major update – valid for both versions – is that the checkout process is now easier to go through due to the division into purchase stages that are intuitively easy to understand (the names of these stages vary depending on what shopping cart version you choose).
So you are now all welcome to test the new shopping cart – both variants of it. And of course we will greatly appreciate your feedback and suggestions. Oh, and here’s something for you to make the testing process more pleasant – the 30% discount code, valid for all purchases at TemplateMonster today and tomorrow. Just make sure you clear your cookies in case you’ve been visiting TemplateMonster website via affiliate links sometime in the past; and make sure you don’t use any sorts of affiliate links now because Template Monster promocode is only valid for direct purchases from TemplateMonster. By the way, the promocode field is now located at the bottom of the first stage page of shopping cart, that’s where you will have to paste the following code:
s8m8eydxiv3zbu5moyvow1kcy
Just go and pick the template you want to purchase now!
Update: Please note that the promocode above is no longer valid now and using it will not reduce the order price. For more information on how to get Template Monster promo code visit our Promocodes Section.

“Battle for developers” is a short and sharp description of the situation that has emerged recently in the environment that we all live in – the Internet. The Web audience can’t stop buzzing about the “Epic Battle” between Flash and HTML 5. Here are some facts of this confrontation. The cornerstone of this struggle lies in a rivalry between Apple and Adobe. But now it is not a simple fight between two of the world’s leading IT companies – it is more of a struggle for the future of the web itself. Internet never stops evolving and HTML 5 is the evident results of this process – along with Adobe Flash.
The Video Episode
It is not a secret that most of the web standards are very much tied to Flash technology and when such media giants as YouTube and Vimeo have started playing their content with the help of HMTL 5 in addition to the good old Flash and it was a huge surprise for some companies. Here are examples of two players that are avaliable on YouTube. The designs are almost identical but there are several details that are worth being mentioned. HTML5 player has original feature that allows to choose the connection speed – you can see this panel in the bottom left corner. Plus, since it’s HTML 5 the player is so far supported by just a few browsers – but that’s more like a problem of a browser, not the player. What’s also important is that the HTML 5 player is faster than the Flash player.
HTML5 – Things We All Totally Love About It!
In our opinion HTML 5 is a great web standard that does have a lot of brilliant features that neither HTML 4 nor Flash have.
- First and foremost HTML 5 greatly simplifies the creation of websites and web products.
- Video elements. We’ve already mentioned that video elements thing and this is one of the best HTML 5 features because you can embed video without having to use any kinds of third party services.
- HTML 5 facilitates your work with various web applications and this is really cool feature because it allows you to implement different apps even without having an Internet connection.
- Another great feature is the new approach to the “canvas” element. According to the developers this element will allow you to design it all “on-the-fly”. Here’s a great example of using this tag – below you’ll find a great model called Cloth Simulation. This model was created by Andrew Hoyer with the help of the canvas tag and some jQuery scripts.

What’s so intriguing about them, you ask? Well, at least that these ones have backgrounds worth looking at, unlike many other basketball stars. It’s a great thing that fans can stay in touch with their basketball idols but hey – starting a Twitter account is a great and noble move but how about nice background theme? At least to stand out of the crowd.
Of course the examples that you’ll see today are really inspiring but we were a little bit disappointed finding some star accounts with little or no design. Anyways, social media has some design peculiarities and Twitter background thing is not an exception here. We mean that mostly of today’s examples are based on or contain huge photos, some original patterns or exquisite fonts. We have noticed that many NBA stars prefer to leave a lot of free space and use dark background. Of course once again we claim that this type of design is aimed to reflect some personal characteristics of players as it was before with their websites.
Alright, enough of our analysis, let’s get to the designs now! Here they go:

Do you know where amazing happens? Of course there are many different answers for this question but today we mean NBA and the wonderful forthcoming event called NBA All-Star Game 2010 in Dallas. We thought that it would be quite interesting to make a small research in this field because today web design presents its best in almost any sphere and basketball, being the obsession of millions, is not an exception.
Today’s post contains collection of really inspiring and original website designs of famous players and teams. Here are some web design trends that we thought you guys may want to know. Teams’ websites mostly correspond to all requirements for news websites – they have these slide shows, embedded videos and smooth design that concentrate visitors’ attention on the process of perceiving the information. Chicago Bulls demonstrates a very original approach by putting the bull mascot into the header and New Orleans Hornets intrigues with sophisticated patterns in the background. Anyways, even though we assume the association does have certain requirements for teams’ websites some teams were able to make great designs even being bounded by these limitations.
As for the personal web pages of famous basketball stars… Well, we can tell you for sure that we are proud to present this collection and we didn’t even expect it will be so much inspiring. Of course each player was trying to reflect his own character in his website and mostly they’ve done that pretty damn good. Major trends for these designs are presence of big image of the player; cool music tracks accompaniment (mostly rap music, obviously), video and original social media sections as well as dark backgrounds. And it is really hard to choose who’s got the best design in our collection because all examples are definitely worth to be seen.
